MEDIT is the Centre of Excellence in Media Innovation and Digital Culture at Tallinn University. Their goal is to study cultural change and innovation processes that accompany digital media. They also aim to apply theoretical knowledge to experimenting with new and innovative forms of digital media. So it’s easy to understand why they became so interested in the Smartsuit Pro!

Katrin Sigijane is a Producer of the Creative Lab in MEDIT and she oversees the prototype development work by Tallinn University students, faculty members and partners. Her background is in audiovisual storytelling and digital learning games. She’s been using the Smartsuit Pro to create virtual characters who are brought to life by mocap actors and place them inside of various digital environments. They showcased their in real-time in front of a live audience. Katrin mentions that “we had a backup in Unreal”, however, because the performance of the suit handled real-time so well they didn’t need to use it. We’re thrilled to be able to provide a suit as stable as the Smartsuit Pro for use-cases like Katrin’s.

We're thrilled to be able to help contribute to the great work MEDIT is doing through the Smartsuit Pro. Their work is largely interdisciplinary, based on the understanding that interpreting and participating in contemporary cultural change requires cultural, economic and technological dynamics to be viewed as a single system.
