What’s the difference between the Headrig and Headcam?
The Headrig mounts an iPhone in front of your face for facial motion capture using Apple's ARKit. The Headcam, however, has its own camera, dimmable LED lighting, and microphone built into it. It provides a real-time video feed for use with other solvers or connects with our Android Face Capture app for direct, real-time facial motion capture into Rokoko Studio.
Do I need a paid subscription to use the Headcam?
The Headcam does not require a subscription to be used with MetaHuman Animator. It is free to be used as a USB-C camera for any purpose. If you are using it with Rokoko’s own face capture solver or use premium features in Rokoko Studio, you will need to go on a paid plan.
Does the Headcam work only with MetaHuman Animator?
No, the camera is agnostic and will work as a USB-C camera with any device that supports that.
Do I need an Android phone to use the Headcam?
No, you can plug the camera into any device that supports cameras connected via USB-C. We recommend using Epic’s Android app for MetaHuman Animator single-cam for a real-time face capture workflow with complete freedom of movement.
What head size does the Headcam fit?
The Headcam features an adjustable and cushioned mount to fit securely on any head size.
